BBMP asphalting works
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has completed 85 per cent of the asphalting works worth Rs 48 crore in the Subramanyapura, Uttarahalli, and Rajarajeshwarinagar zones, according to BBMP commissioner, Dr S Subramanya.

The commissioner inspected the ongoing asphalting work at the BDA complex, Annapurneswarinagar, Health Layout, Deepa complex and surrounding areas, Doddabasti main road, Kalyana Cooperative Society areas in the Rajarajeswarinagar zone. All pending asphalting works will be completed by the first week of March, a BBMP release said.

Free computer training
Nightingales Medical Trust is organising training in basic computer skills for senior citizens. It will be for three weeks and will be held at Sandhya Kirana at Shantinagar. Call 9880201230 for details.

Applications invited
The D Devaraja Urs Backward Communities Development Board has invited applications from members of the Uppara Community, for training in professional courses like computer hardware, air-hostess training, food processing, tally accounting package and other courses. Contact the board office, No 33, 1st and 2nd floor, 1st main road, Seshadripuram, Bangalore.

Apprenticeship training
The Technical Education Department will conduct interviews for BE/Diploma students, for a one-year apprenticeship in various organisations. Those who have completed courses after April 2005, can participate in the interview at SJ Polytechnic campus between March 1 and March 3.

State Sikh directory 2008
The Karnataka Sikh Welfare Society (KSWS) is releasing the 7th Edition of the Karnataka Sikh Directory for 2008 in April.

The directory aims to be a useful database to bring members of the community closer. KSWS has requested all sikhs to register their names, addresses, telephone, mobile, fax numbers, business address and e-mail with general secretary Gurmeet Singh Jowar at gs@ksws.co.in or kswsblr@gmail.com; or log on to www.ksws.co.in
