“For safe roads, the KSRTC and the police department has to work jointly and people also need to cooperate with the officials,” said DC Subodh Yadav.
He was speaking at a meet organised by the District road safety association at the DC office premises on Wednesday. He also added that to set right the loopholes in the road safety, several new laws have to be introduced.
It has been decided to turn Sir M V road, Gangamma Gudi Road, Old Mysore Bank road into one ways from 9 am to 9 pm.
The footpath on the BB road has been limited to 8 feet. The road leading to Shanimahatma temple from Vapsandra will have grills on both sides.The electric poles and trees which act as barriers on the footpath will be dealt with, he added.
The heavy vehicles on BB road will be moved and a track terminal on the outskirts of the city will be constructed, said Deputy Commissioner. It was also decided in the meeting that for now the vehicles will be parked in the T Chinnaiah Park.
The DC Subhod Yadav also announced that zebra track will be painted on Sir M V road, Government PU College road, Shidalghatta road and on new bus stand to help pedestrians.
The M G road that joins APMC Market to Sir M V School will be a double, he added.
DC announced that all the decisions taken in the meeting will be implemented at the earliest.
