PG students boycott classes
DH News Service, Kolar:
Students of the post graduation centre boycotted the classes, in protest against the mandatory BEd after the completion of post graduation course for pre-university college lecturers, here on Wednesday.

The students expressed that the decision of the Government to make BEd mandatory for PUC lecturers, has come as a bolt from the blue for the post graduate degree holders. With this decision, all the post graduate aspirants who hoped to join as PUC lecturers will face a lot of problems, they added.

Several post graduate students have been serving in various colleges as part time lecturers, for the last several years. And now they were forced to learn BEd along with their students. This was one of the most embarrassing situations for them, the students expressed.

Apart from this, there were problems in learning BEd. Since, the Commerce graduates did not have the opportunity to study BEd. And the candidates who were already undergoing their post graduation course, should be given a three-month training in teaching. It was wrong to commercialise education and mint money from it.

Several education colleges which have mushroomed up in the State will capitalise on this decision and mint money, the alleged.

Student leaders B Suresh Gowda, K Suman, Rajesh, Bhasha, Manjunath, Puttaraj and others took lead in the protest.
