Increasing Inflow Of US Capital
New Delhi, Feb. 27.
India and the United States have agreed to take steps for greater trade and economic collaboration between them.
A joint statement setting out the various measures for such co-operation was signed in Washington today by Mr K B Lall Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Commerce on behalf of the Government of India and by Mr Henry Kearns, Assistant Secretary of the US Department of Commerce on behalf of the US Government.
Fire Sweeps Burma Town
Rangoon, Feb. 27.
A devastating fire raged through the town of Bassein in the delta area yesterday consuming over 2,000 houses and spreading a trail of damage through a quarter of the town.

70% Polling In Tarikere
Bangalore, Feb. 27.
An estimated 70 per cent of the electorate of 86,000 exercised their franchise when polling came to a close at 16:00 hours today in the election to the Karnataka Assembly from Tarikere, according to official reports. Election in the constituency was countermanded following the death of the Congress(I) candidate Mr H R Basavaraju.
