It’s all Firangi

Firangi, the newest venture of Sahara One Media and Entertainment, has announced an alley of exciting programmes.The viewers will get to see fresh, contemporary and bold programmes from across the globe which include some the world’s most popular serials like ‘Lalola’ from Argentina, ‘America’ from Brazil, ‘Second Chance’ from Columbia and ‘Dolmen’ from France, in addition to other programmes and world movies.

Firangi also has short stories from around the world in Hindi and daily soaps at various times a day.Two prime times have been set- 5 to 8 pm for housewives and 9 pm for men. Lalola, ‘America’ and ‘Second Chance’ will have a run time of one hour and will be telecasted during these these two preplanned primetime settings. The strategy for two time bands has arrived after analysing the viewing habits of people who especially watch dubbed versions of Hindi soaps.

Bollywood bang bang

Channel [V] is all set to create television history by creating India's first ever live Bollywood flick titled ‘Andaz Apna Very Hatke’ which is scripted, directed and produced by Channel [V]. This film stars Neha Dhupia and a renowned international celebrity. It will also cast artists chosen through a nation wide talent hunt who would get an opportunity to be a part of this unique initiative. All this will culminate into a Live Flick on March 2 and will also be released on the same date making it the fastest produced film in Bollywood history.

This mini blockbuster which will be enacted, shot and telecast live on television for the first time has all the ingredients of a typical Bollywood film – a ‘zalim baap, a gareeb hero, one bheegi bheegi’ heroine and a ‘kameena’ villain. This live mini blockbuster will be shot at MMRDA Grounds, in Mumbai on March 2 amidst selected audiences and will be telecasted LIVE on Channel [V], on the same day at 9 pm.

Online math event

Cartoon Network has announced its partnership with 3P Learning, the global leader in online mathematics learning for school-aged students. Together, Cartoon Network and 3P will promote World Maths Day, a unique web-based event where students from across the globe contest with each other to solve mental arithmetic problems in a fun, multi-player game environment. World Maths Day is scheduled on March 5 this year.

Cartoon Network will help promote World Maths Day across its networks in India, Australia/New Zealand and South East Asia, to enable World Maths Day to achieve its vision of becoming the ‘Olympics of Education’. To be held online on March 5, the event will cater to 5-18 year olds in a set of 60-second age-specific Maths challenges. Students can already log on to www.worldmathsday.com to register and start taking Maths challenges in time for World Maths Day. Launched only last year, World Maths Day 2007 witnessed a phenomenal participation from over 286,392 students representing 1,297 schools from 98 countries, including India! World Maths Day’s aim was for students to correctly answer 10 million questions over the day, of which participants answered 38,904,275!

Mission Ustaad

Musical history was created as 9X announced the 'Ustaad Jodi' on Mission Ustaad. After 13 weeks of exhilarating music and entertainment, the viewers and jury crowned Roop Kumar and Sonali Rathod with the title of ‘Ustaad Jodi’ in a musical ceremony amidst huge fanfare. In its constant endeavour to provide bigger, better and fresher entertainment to the entire family 9X has week on week created awareness on the MDG's of the UN's across the length and breadth of the country.
