Shankar shines for MPM

Shankar Narayan came up with a fine all-round show to propel MPM Bhadravati to a 32-run win over BHEL (EPD) Sports Club in the KSCA second division (group II) match on Wednesday.

Batting first, MPM made 199 for seven with Shankar makign 68. Shankar tormented the BHEL again with two quick wickets that limited the latter to 167 before getting bundled out. Ramesh top-scored for them with 85.
Brief scores: MPM Bhadravati: 199/7 in 30 overs [Satish 34, Shankar Narayan 68, Anil 44; Satish 2-25) bt BHEL (EPD) Sports Club: 167 all out in 28.1 overs (Ramesh 85; Shankar 2-27, Anil 3-33).

Bangalore Telephones CC: 141/6 in 30 overs [Sandeep 53, Rajshekar 47; Vijay Kumar 2-25, Venkatesh 2-22) bt AT & S Sports Club: 134 all out in 29.3 overs (Vijay Kumar 31; HG Prakash 4-25).

South Western Railway Inst. Mysore: 127 all out in 28.3 overs (S Dwrkesh 24; Magesh 3-17, Sathya Mohan 3-28] lt to ADE Sports Club: 131/3 in 26 overs (Sunil 58).

St Joseph’s score over PESIT

St Joseph’s College recorded a facile 43-run win over PESIT in the BHS FGC Staff cricket tournament on Wednesday.
Brief scores:
St Joseph’s College: 241/8 in 25 overs (Elango 46 n.o., Madappa 46, Anthony 36; Venkatesh 3-45) bt PESIT: 198 all out in 23 overs (Chandra Shekar 128; Madappa 2-27, Thimma Reddy 2-17, Reith 2-9).

Srinivasamurthy elected president

K M Srinivasamurthy has been unanimously elected as the prsedent of Karnataka State Kho Kho Association along with other office bearers for a term of four years at the annual general body meeting.

Office bearers: KM Srinivasamurthy (president); Lokeshwara (chairman); MN Pyategouder, HC Gopal, C R Shankar Kumar (all vice-presidents); K R Rajagopal (secretary); R Mallikarjunaiah, Kalappa (joint secretaries); TS Siddalinga Murthy (Treasurer).

Life member representatives: KS Mukunda, S Venkataraju, TV Ravindranath.

Jankaraj wins 50M gold

P Jankaraj won the 50 metres gold in the mentally retarded category for 7-12 years age group in the Aarambh sports fest conducted by Samarthanam Trust and Rotaract Club.

Results (only gold medal winners):

Boys: 50M: 7-12 years: P Jankaraj (mentally retarded); Subramanya (partially blind); Sajay Kumar (totally blind). 13-18: Sharath; Ramesh; Raju.

18 & above: Srinivas Murthy; Munirathna; Siddharth. Long jump: 7-12: Shivaswamy; Gangadhar; Rajumer. 13-18: Narasimha (partially blind); Shivakumar (totally blind).

Girls: 50M: 7-12 years: Shylaja (mentally retarded); Pavithra (partially blind); Bhagyamma (totally blind). 13-18: Varalaksmi; Sweath B; Munirathna.

Equestrian for handicapped

To promote and develop para equestrian in India, Para Equestrian Society of India (PESI) has formed. PESI, an organisation dedicated to serve physically challenged equestrians, is affiliated to the International Equestrian Committee and Equestrian Federation of India.

Kamath emerges champion

M S Kamath with a score of 40 points emerged champion in the senior category of the Third KGA Handicap golf tournament.

Seniors (60-70 years): MS Kamath (40 points) 1; Ramanna (39)2.Super seniors (71 & above): RJ Shanthraj (45) 1; SS Nadig (41) 2. Longest drive: BSV Kumar. Closest to pin: MS Kamath.

Cuban delegates visit UCPE

A four member Cuban delegates visited Bangalore University’s University College of Physical Education, Jnana Bharathi, as part of a bilateral agreement with India.

The objective of the visit was to study about the programmes of physical education and sports sciences in the country.
