Provision of traffic facilities, yard remodelling and others have been allocated over Rs 250 crore while gauge conversion works have been allocated Rs 25 crore.
The hike for doubling is more than 100 per cent over the Rs 93.6 crore allocated in the previous year’s budget. The doubling of line between Ramanagaram and Mysore which runs to 91.5 kms has been sanctioned Rs 50 crore.
Electrification of the Kengeri-Mysore line also falls under this. Patch doubling between Arsikere-Birur and doubling between Dharwad and Kambarganvi have also been allocated Rs 50 crore each while the doubling of line between Hubli and Hebsur has been sanctioned Rs 40 crore.
Much importance has been accorded to safety aspects with track renewals sanctioned Rs 260 crore, more than 100 pc hike over the amount allocated for, last year.
Workshops too have been given priority with a 175 pc increase over the previous year’s allocation.
