The High Court on Wednesday summoned both the present and the then Deputy Commissioners of Mysore to provide evidence in the petition challenging the election of MLC Marithibbegowda.
P Sharadamma and S M Gurunanjaiah, who had lost to Marithibbegowda in the elections to Legislative Council from Teachers’ Constituency in 2006 elections, contended that persons not qualified to vote had exercised their franchise.
Justice N Kumar hearing the matter, directed the then Mysore DC Selvakumar, who is presently the DC of Bangalore Urban district, to appear at the next hearing on March 10, to give evidence. The judge also summoned the present DC of Mysore along with marked copy of voters’ list and counter foils of ballot papers from all 38 polling booths of the district.
