Proceedings stayed in Kumble custody case
Bangalore, DHNS:

Cricketer Anil Kumble’s wife Chethana Kumble has moved the High Court against the family court proceedings initiated by her former husband Kumar Jahgirdar, seeking permanent custody of their 13-year-old daughter. The Court on Wednesday stayed further proceedings before the Principal Family Court.

Chethana Kumble had said that the HC had already decided an appeal in the matter and granted custody rights of the child to her and visitation rights to her ex-husband.

But,  Kumar Jahgirdar had again filed another unwarranted application before the Principal Family Court, seeking permanent custody of the child.

This is a mischievous application and would disturb the child, she said while impugning the Family Court’s order, that had refused to reject his application. After noting that the child’s annual examinations were about to begin, Justice K L Manjunath passed an interim order staying further proceedings till March 24, 2008 - to which date the hearing was adjourned.
