HC nod for engineering admissions
Bangalore, DHNS:
The HC on Thursday directed Visvesvaraya Technological University to approve the 2007-08 engineering admissions of IMPACT Engineering College of Kodigehalli, on outskirts of Bangalore city.

Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri passed an order to this effect while disposing of the college management’s petition against VTU’s Dec 31, 2007 communication refusing to approve the admissions for the year. VTU had refused approval as per the directions of One-man Admissions Regulatory Committee which had recieved a complaint by six students, alleging excess fee demand by the college management. The college said that it had refunded the excess amount collected from its students including the 6 complainants, and would not indulge in such act in future.

PIL against Metro
The HC directed the State Government and BMRCL to file counter affidavits in response to the PIL challenging the legal sanctity of starting the Metro Rail project and its alignment through CMH Road and 100 feet road in Indiranagar.

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B V Nagarathna commented that when everyday people undergo so many difficulties, why not adjust to some inconvenience caused due to development efforts.

Live bands’ licence
The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph suggested the State Home department and city police to approach the single judge himself, seeking review of the order directing disposal of applications for live band licenses.

The Bench then adjourned the hearing of the appeal filed by Government seeking to quash the said order, to March 24.
