Brawl snuffs out call

A brawl over a petty issue led to the alleged murder of a call centre employee in Mico Layout police station limits on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Shashidhar (27), a native of Indupura in Andhra Pradesh. Shashidhar was staying as a paying guest near Jayadeva Hospital.

Police said, Shashidhar and one of his friends were waiting for another friend at a bus stop near Jal Bhavan at around 11.30 pm.

The duo decided to have a cup of tea at a nearby tea shop. Within minutes a brawl broke out over serving of  tea.

A group of four persons inside the tea stall are alleged to have stabbed Shashidhar with a screw, in a fit of anger. A bleeding Shashidhar was rushed to the his paying guest accommodation and he was administered first aid by his friend.

When the bleeding didn’t cease, his friends took him to a hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared him brought dead. The accused are said to have fled the scene after committing the crime.

Police have launched a search operation to nab the accused.

Girl hangs self
Two persons committed suicide in separate incidents at Mangammanapalya, Madivala police station limits, on Thursday.

A 11-year-old girl hanged herself from the ceiling of her house when her mother was away at work.

The deceased has been identified as Harilakshmi (11), a class VI student at a government primary school.

According to police, Harilakshmi’s mother Chandramma took her daughter to task for not studying properly. Irked by her mother’s remarks, the girl decided to end her life.

 The incident came to light only after Lakshmi’s mother Chandramma returned home.

Commits suicide
In another incident in Old Mangammanapalya, a 27-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a branch of a tree. The deceased has been identified as Nandeesh.

Nandeesh was an electrician in a company and had quit last month.

He would wander with his friends and consume liquor. After his father scolded him, Nandeesh killed himself on Thursday night, said police.
