Mita’s collection of clothes is pretty impressive and spans the range of occasions, from casual dressing to elaborate wear for weddings and functions. A textile designer from Lucknow, Mita visits Bangalore twice a year with her collection. This current set is part of the summer collection and primarily includes chikan work on georgette and silk.
The designer wear collection comes in pleasant summer hues — sky blue, peach, white, beige — along with dressy evening colours such as black, green and red. Sarees include silk georgette with elaborate embroidery that makes for an elegant drape for an occasion. Cotton and silk with chikan work, maheswari and other embroideries also come in this collection.
She has also brought, along with her, this time, kurtis and tops for women in cotton and silk in various shades.
The collection for men will be brought in during her next visit during the later half of the year. “Men use Indian ethnic attires mostly during festivals apart from weddings and I felt September-October would be a good time for their collection. I don’t want them to sleep on my designs,” says Mita.
The collection is available at Raintree (opposite ITC Windsor Hotel) till March 1 between 10:30 am and 7 pm.
