The All India Railway Licenced Porters Association on Friday urged Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to grant compassionate ground appointments to the family members of licenced porters in case they met with accident while on duty.

Lauding Mr Yadav’s Railway Budget for sanctioning Rs 5 crore for providing rest room facilities and for changing the cadre of coolie porters to gangmen, the General Secretary of  Porters’ Associations’s  P Jettappa urged the railway minister to grant compassionate ground appointments to the family members of licenced porters.
