With the Election Commission exploring all possibilities to hold elections by May, ‘like-minded’ parties have begun moving closer. The BJP and the JD(U) will in all probability have a pre-poll alliance for the coming elections in the State. JD(U) National General Secretary and Karnataka State In-charge Shambu Srivastava said talks are on and two parties are likely to go together in the coming polls.
Ibrahim slams ‘terror’ arrests
Bangalore, DHNS: The Karnataka Muslim Council (KMC) on Friday condemned the recent arrest of innocent Muslim youth on charges of terrorist activities. Chairman of KMC ex-union minister C M Ibrahim said innocent youth were picked up by the police in the name of terrorism. “We have no objection to arrests made by the police with links to terrorism, but they have arrested some innocent Muslim youths who were let off after finding they had no role in terror activities. Police should give them a clean chit after releasing them so they can lead a normal life once again,” he said.
He said the KMC will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing early Assembly elections without making any efforts to remove the anomalies in the electoral list.
