Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav warned the LPG distributors not to trouble the customers regarding supply of gas cylinders, else strict action will be taken against them.
He was speaking at the food security and scarcity meeting held at his office on Saturday. The DC said that though the LPG companies in the country have been supplying enough gas cylinders, the public have been facing scarcity in the supply from the local agencies. This has been the problem in all the six taluks in the district, he added.
It has been an everyday sight of women, poor, children and old people queuing up for a long time in front of the shops of gas distributors and after waiting for such a long period they are made to return empty handed which is very sad. Cylinders should reach the customers within 28 days after the registration he said, while adding that, there has been a rule that these agencies should reach the cylinders to the doorstep of rural area customers. They can only take the transportation amount if the distance is more than 5 kms, Mr Yadav added.
