SECOND MARRIAGE
Bridegroom lands in police net
DH News Service, KGF:

A bridegroom landed in police net in KGF  on the day of his second marriage.

A resident of Konanakunte at Bangalore, Umesh was arrested here in a temple during the marriage ceremony on Thursday.  According to the police, Umesh had married  to Rukmini of Andharahalli near Bangalore eight years ago. The father of three sons had allegedly harassed his first wife for dowry and also attempted to kill her.

Rukmini, who sustained 75 per cent burns, survived and stayed with the sons at her parents’ place since then.

Umesh made arrangements to marry Sunanda (18) of Keremindanahalli near Guttahalli. The marriage was scheduled to take place on Thursday at Kotilingeshwara temple. On receiving the information, Rukmini lodged a complaint at Tyagarajanagara police station.

During the interrogation Umesh had told the police that the second marriage was just a drama to bring Rukmini back home. However on Wednesday, Umesh arrived at Ramasagara with his mother Ratnamma and relatives.

On Thursday morning the bridegroom and others, all decked out in their fineries, assembled at temple.

Reimbursement

On obtaining authentic information, Rukmini and her brothers came with the police in mufti to the temple.

Sunanda’s family members, who got to know about Umesh’s plan of second marriage, lodged a complaint against him for deceiving them. They also demanded reimbursement of the money that they had spent on marriage arrangements. The local police arrested Umesh and his mother.
