KGF: JD(S) bags CMC hot seat

At the CMC polls held here on Saturday M Bhaktavatsalam of JD(S) has been elected as the president  and Sangeethakumari of BJP as vice president. This is for the first time in the history of KGF that JD(S) has bagged the CMC top position.

Elections to CMC, supposed to be held on February 22 had been postponed to March 1 following a complaint about alleged kidnapping of some members of the contesting parties.

Accordingly, oOn Saturday polls were held amidst tight security.

For president’s post Bhaktavatsalam  of JD(S), Rashid Khan and Prabha Shantakumar of Congress had filed nominations. For vice president’s post Jayanti Srinivasan, and Sangeethakumari had contested. However, Rashid Khan, Prabha Shantakumar and Jayanti Srinivasan remained absent during elections.

JD(S) and BJP workers rejoiced over the election results by bursting crackers.

The newly elected president and vice president assured that they will give priority to people’s problems and development works. Roads and drainage system at the gold fields will be improved, they said.  KGF district JD(S) president Venkatashivareddy congratulated the newly elected members.
