Storm hits Turkish ship, 600 perish
ISTANBUL, March 1
A Turkish ferry boat sank in the sea of Marmara today during a storm and over 600 are feared drowned.
There were only 11 survivors according to reports reaching here.
The boat the 148-ton Uskudar sank in Izmit bay at the eastern end of the sea of Marmara.
Turkish naval units and three submarines are searching the area.
In 25 yrs India will be land of plenty
JAMSHEDPUR, March 1
Prime Minister Nehru believed that India in another 25 years would be a land of plenty.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting organised by the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee today. Mr Nehru said that the foundation of such a plentiful India was being laid at present. Such a change was unthinkable 50 years ago, he said. The Prime Minister called upon the workers, whatever be the undertaking they belonged to share responsibility in the difficult task.

Belur temple turns 1,000
BANGALORE, March 1
The renowned Belur temple will so on be a thousand-year wonder.
A few prominent persons of Hassan district have got together to celebrate ‘Velapur (Belur) Vaibhava’ on the same scale as the Maha Masthakabhisheka observed at Sravanabelagola a year ago. According to Mr N K Ganapaiah, it is already 1,004 years old since the rule of the Hoysala dynasty began.
