Its tough to be cops in Blore
Bangalore, dhns:

The call of duty has been increasingly turning fatal for City policemen. The Sunday death of Nagesh, who was run over by a car being driven by fleeing thieves, is the fifth instance of a policeman being killed while on duty in recent times.
Traffic sub-inspector Arun Kumar attached to the Shivajinagar police station was run over by a speeding car when he was trying to stop it in May 2006. Till this day, the killer continues to be at large.
On October 9 last, a constable with the Sampangiramnagar police station, Madaiah, was stabbed to death when he tried to speak to a woman wielding knife in the middle of the road. Incidentally, the assailant, Geetha, happened to be the sister of ACP of Kengeri sub-division Ramesh Babu.
Constable S Murthy was murdered by an armed gang at Ullal Ambedkar Colony in Tavarekere police station limits at Sarjapur on August 30, 2004.
In fact, another constable attached to the J P Nagar police station was hacked to death by four hooligans some eight years ago. Ironically, a sub-inspector, who rushed the constable to the hospital, was suspended for attending to the injured constable instead of nabbing the criminals. This just about sums up how perilous are the lives of the men and women in uniform in the City.
Eye opener
Constable Nagesh is no more, but his eyes would continue to see the world. Before cremation his family members agreed to donate his eyes and as per their wish the eyes were taken out.

Its high time the police dept train their staff to tackle difficult situations. They have to be well protected and trained in self defence if they are to to save themselves and the public from the dangers of criminals. As for trying to stop a speeding car its foolish to put one's life in danger anyway. Lets be sensiable and judge when its time to fight and when its time to save your LIFE,

Hats off to this officer who gave his life to in the line of duty to make the society and community safe.I want the society and media to recognize this person's sacrifice and honour him appropriately.
It appears as a very minor news article and not on main page. News about stupid game of cricket gets more prominence then the sacrifice made by this gentleman.
