Poet and playwright Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar on Sunday said that most of the lecturers in the State treat their profession as part-time job. “There are hardly a few lecturers who can teach poetry with total involvement,” he said.
Speaking at a seminar on recent trend in Kannada literature organised by a news publication in Bangalore, Kambar said lecturers should have passion for literature and only that can help inculcate interest in literature among students.
Jnanpith laureate Dr U R Ananthamurthy said it had become very difficult for writers to make their writing more effective due to the advent of electronic media.
Speaking to reporters later, Ananthamurthy opposed the decision of Sugama Sangeetha Sanghagala Okkuta’s decision to boycott Nisar Ahmed’s songs. “Boycotting songs of a poet is not acceptable at all.”
