Sharana Sandesh yatra today

Tumkur, dhns: On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, a padayatra will be held on Monday in City to spread the message of Shiva Sharanas. 

The yatra is jointly organised by Tumkur Basava kendra, B Kodihalli Sri Basava Bhringeswara mutt, Bhagat Kranti Sena, district Sharana Sahitya Parishatand Basava Mahila Kendra.

The rally will start from Sri Jayadeva hostel at 6 am. The yatra will proceed towards Yadeyuru.

President of Sri Padavala mutt Basava kendra peetha Sri Basava Mahalinga Swamiji, Sri Basava Bhringeshwara Swamiji of Sri Basava Bhringeshwara mutt will lead the yatra.

Body found in Kunigal taluk

Kunigal, dhns: Body of an unidentified person was found by the police in the Huliyurudurga police station limits in Kunigal taluk on Saturday. 

The body was found in a eucalyptus farm in Lakshmipura village of Huliyurudurga hobli.

Somebody had hit his head with a stone and committed the murder. The village members informed the police, who arrived on the spot.

The deceased is said to around 35 years of age. A case has been registered at the police station and further investigation is on.

Additional Superintendent of Police Anantharamu, CPI Balaramegowda and others visited the spot.

‘Participate in panchayat raj’
 
Tumkur, dhns: Women should participate in the panchayat raj system and avail of the facilities provided by the government, said District principle and sessions judge P Krishna Bhat. He was speaking after inaugurating the legal awareness and aid programme at Urdigere village in Tumkur taluk organised jointly by district legal services authority and women and child development department.

Poverty, illiteracy, ignorance and superstition weaken the  society. Women should be courageous and come forward to make use of the various schemes of the government. They should have rational outlook towards life and should not be superstitious, he said.

Mr Bhat also called upon women to develop legal knowledge and know their rights in order to safeguard themselves.

Bands were distributed to Bhagyalakshmi beneficiaries on this occasion.
