NSS unit of National Degree College in Bagepalli has bagged two state-level NSS awards in recognition of its years of service.

The credit of leading NSS on the route of success goes to Principal Prof N Nanjundappa and Prof D Shivanna who were conferred state-level awards recently.

His decades of service in NSS has set a record of sorts in the history of Indian universities.

The State-level best NSS officer award was conferred on Prof D Shivanna who has been working as NSS
officer for the last 20 years. Besides, the Bangalore University-level best NSS officer award was also given to him two months ago.

Best NSS unit

Another laurel that the NSS unit of the college bagged is the best NSS unit in the State.

The college, established by freedom fighter Dr H Narasimhaiah around 25 years back, has been imparting quality education.

NSS unit in the college was also opened in the same year and the lush green forest that the college is
surrounded with is the fruit of NSS eco-friendly service for the last couple of decades.

Special camps

Besides, special camps in villages, blood-donation camps, health check-up camps, rural development programmes, university-level programmes and many more programmes have always been on the agenda of the NSS unit.

Besides, the NSS volunteers of the college have also carved a niche in the society by contributing to overall development of the society. The principal, staff, students and alumni, who shared the joy with media, said that the NSS unit of the college merited the award and they wished that it would win recognition at the national level.
