AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is visiting Karnataka in the last week of March.
Rahul, who is also heading Youth Congress and NSUI, intends to tour the state for about five days to interact mainly with the youth and tribals, according to Jeetendra Singh, who is political secretary to Rahul Gandhi, and All India Youth Congress President Ashok Tanvar. “He will visit different districts and spend time with the college and university students,” they said adding the details of the programme are being worked out.
Youth Congress State unit President Krishna Byregowda said that Rahul wants to strengthen the party by attracting talented youth from all walks of life. “The purpose of this visit is not to prepare the ground for the upcoming elections; but to strengthen the party by inducting more youths. Rahul is on the look out for talented youth at both block level as well as district level,” he added.
Referring to the state executive committee meeting of Youth Congress held earlier in the day, Byregowda said it had resolved to welcome the Union budget presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
