College student murdered; love affair suspected

A 17-year-old college student was murdered by some unidentified persons in Thalaghattapura in Ramanagar district on Tuesday night...


The incident came to light on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar, a resident of Thalaghattapura. He was a first PU student in a private college in Thalaghattapura.

According to the police, some people informed the police about a youngster being murdered and his body being abandoned on a vacant site on Kanakapura Road near SJS factory. Shivakumar had been stabbed on his neck and chest several times. The police shifted the body to Victoria Hospital, added the police.

The police believe that a love affair involving another boy might have been the reason for the crime as Shivakumar was in love with a girl.

Techie robbed

Two unidentified persons robbed a techie of his valuables on late Tuesday night in Subrahmanyapura police limits.

According to the police, two persons accosted Suresh Kumar, a software engineer in a private company in ITPL, on the pretext of asking time. Before Suresh could look at his watch, the duo threatened him with a knife and snatched his gold chain worth Rs 20,000 and fled.

The incident took place on Chunchanaghatta Main Road in Bheereshwarnagar when the victim was returning home. Search is on to trace the accused, added the police.

Car driver killed

A 30-year-old car driver was killed on the spot in an accident in Peenya traffic police limits on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Jagadish Shetty, a resident of Nandini Layout.

According to police, the mishap occurred around 3:30 am when Shetty rammed his car into a trailer when he tried to over take it. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival, added the police.

Murder case cracked

The railway police cracked a murder case by arresting three persons recently. The accused have been identified as Anthony (38), a resident of Sathyanagar, Ravi (37) of Nagaiahnapalya and Ayoob Khan (28) of L R Bande.

According to police, the trio had strangled Meena to death near Byappanahalli railway gate in Sathyanagar on February 15 night. The police had recovered some packets of condoms and liquor bottles near the body. Police arrested Khan on February 29 on suspicion. Khan spilled the beans that they had killed Meena after raping her. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody, added the police.
