Special pujas were offered to the lord Nanjundeshwara at Sri Omkaar Kshetra temple on Kolar road in Bangarpet on Wednesday following the Mahashivaratri. Hundreds of devotees visited the temple to have a glimpse of the all decorated linga.
As part of the ritual the Ksherabhisheka was done to the Nanjundeshawara. People from the neighbouring villages came to the temple and took part in the religiously activities of the temple. People who were fasting on the day as per the belief also visited the temple. Apart from the Harikathas and bhajans day-long cultural programmes were also organised by the temple authorities.
Special pujas were also done at the Sri Chandramouleshwara swamy temple in the city.
Though the devotees were scarce in the morning by the time of afternoon hordes of devotees visited the temple for the darshan of the god.
Overall celebration
Apart from the Shiva temples in the city special bhajans and Harikathas were also organised in other temples on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.
As a precautionary measure police had arranged a tight security.
Chintamani
On the occasion of Mahashivaratri the linga at lord Mukteshwara temple in Murugamalla in Chintamani was specially decorated. People in hordes visited the temple to seek the blessings of the god.
In a devotion of its kind one Prakash a resident of Chintamani has placed 2000 lingas in his house and offered special pujas to it on Wednesday.
Kolar Gold Fields
Special pujas were offered on the occasion of Mahashivaratri in the city temples. The linga at Lord
Ramalingeshwara temple in city was specially decorated by flower for the purpose. Devotees visited in large numbers and offered their prayers.
