Santosh Vadeyaraj’s seven-wicket haul helped YMCA Cricket Club (1) to annex the KSCA Group I, IV Division cricket tournament for the Metro Shield. YMCA scored a 43-run win over Vijaya Cricket Club at the RSI grounds here on Wednesday.
YMCA made 269 in their first innings with Narayan and Mahesha chipping in with contrasting fifties. Narayan made 66 off 120 balls with seven fours, while Mahesha was more aggressive collecting his 69 off just 60 balls with six hits to the rope.
In reply, half-centuries by R Mohan and Krishna Kumar helped Vijaya gain a narrow two-run innings lead. Srinath took five wickets for YMCA.
Krishna Kumar grabbed five wickets as YMCA were dismissed for a paltry 166 in their second innings. Srinath top scored for them with 43.
Chasing 164 runs to win from a maximum of 30 overs, Vijaya CC never could resist left-arm spinner Vadeyaraj and were bowled out for 121 with 11 balls to spare.
