Accenture emerge champs

Accenture beat Satyam 3-1 in the final to lift the team event title in the 20th Ventures Serve Rally Smash corporate table tennis tournament.

Team event: Accenture: 3 (Devdarshan bt Mithun J N 8-11, 11-7, 11-8, 14-12; Badri/ Devdarshan bt Mithun/ Prasanth 14-12, 11-7, 16-14; Devdarshan bt Prasanth 11-8, 13-11, 11-5) bt Satyam: 1 (Prasanth bt Badri 11-3, 11-1, 11-6).

Men: Singles: Devdarshan (Accenture) bt Arun (Aviva) 11-8, 13-11, 10-12, 4-11, 11-7, 11-4.

Queen Star enters semifinal

Queen Star defeated Bangalore Mars 6-5 via sudden death in the ‘C’ Division knockout tournament on Wednesday. Ronnie, Santhosh, Frank, Sajith, Dileep and Indrajith scored for Queen Star while D Babu, Ganesh, K Kumar, Saravanan and Prabhu Kumar found the target for Bangalore Mars.

With this win, Queen Star entered the semifinal where they will take on Students Union.

Minerva will square off with ISRO in the other last four encounter which will be played on Friday. Minerva defeated Jupiter 4-2 in the other knockout fixture. Karthik, Surender, Kishore and Eshwar scored for the winners in the tie-breaker after the two sides played out a goaless draw in the regulation time. For the losers, only Elumalai and Saravanan could score.

Tuesday’s results: Students Union: 2 (Dilip 51st, Santhosh 57th) bt Mico: 0; ISRO: 6 bt Modern Boys: 5 (tie-breaker).

Swimming course

Karnataka Swimming Association will conduct a certification course (Level I) on swimming and water safety at the Corporation Swimming Pool, Basavanagudi on March 15 & 16 from 10 am to 12 pm.
