TELECOM / Plans DTH foray & London listing for Reliance Globalcomm
Reliance Communications Q4 net up 9.5% at Rs 1,503 cr

Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Communications, on Wednesday, announced a 9.5 per cent growth in its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2008 at Rs 1,503.20 crore as against Rs 1,372.90 crore in the previous fiscal's quarter.


The company’s net revenue for the reporting quarter at Rs 4.315.20 crore registered a growth of 14.9 per cent over previous fiscal quarter’s net revenue of Rs 3,7554 crore. The company’s consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 5,401.14 crore for the year ended March 31, recorded a 70.51 per cent growth over previous year.

The company’s total revenues during the quarter ended March 31, 2008 stood at Rs 5,3114 crore recording a 9 per cent growth over previous year’s same period quarter revenues of Rs 4,874.2 crore.

The company had a profit after tax of Rs 3,167.59 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007, the company said.

The total income of the group increased to Rs 19,067.76 crore for fiscal year 2008, from Rs 14,468.29 crore last year. Meanwhile, Reliance Communications, the flagship company of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, is planning to list its global arm Reliance Globalcomm on the London Stock Exchange, Chairman Anil Ambani said here.

Market conditions

He indicated that the listing will be subject to market conditions and if the company can get good value. Mr Anil Ambani also said he was bullish about the proposed IPO of Reliance Infratel, the company subsidiary that owns the passive infrastructure of telecom business, as the valuations are going northward.

Mr Anil Ambani also unveiled plans for the launch of its DTH foray. “The DTH  service will be known as Big TV and is already in market catering to 35,000 customers. The commercial launch will take place shortly,” he said.
