Degree Not Required For Posts
New Delhi, April 30.
The Estimates Committee of the Lok Sabha in its 17th report has supported the move for the “abolition of degree qualification for the lower and the middle level public services.”
The committee’s report which was presented to the House today, suggested with the recommendations of the committee appointed to examine the need for a university degree as a pre-requisite qualification for the public services, that the degree qualification should be abolished for lower category posts.
Youth Leaps To Death
Bangalore, April 30.
Dejection in life drove 1 27-year-old Government employee to leap to death from the 60-foot facade of the Vidhana Soudha this afternoon. He was identified to be one Shivalingappa, a second division clerk of the Electricity Board.

Changes In Bonus Act Soon
Madras, April 30.
Union Labour Minister Veerendra Patil said today that “some amendments” to the Bonus Act were being considered by the Government. Mr Patil told pressmen, “I am not now in a position to say what type of amendment, but some amendments will be brought forward in the monsoon session of Parliament .”
