Rain paralyses traffic in City
The City received a moderate spell of rainfall on Monday evening. According to the Met Department sources, the City recorded a rainfall of 5.2 cm. People returning home after office hours had a tough time as traffic was paralysed in the central parts. Rainfall recorded at HAL airport is 3 mm.
BBMP inspection at Sanjaynagar
BBMP administrator Dilip Rau will inspect areas of Sanjaynagar on Tuesday from 10 am onwards. He will inspect the condition of roads and side walks. He will also listen to public grievances.
HC dismisses petition
The High Court on Monday dismissed a petition challenging 2003 order of Bangalore Rural District Deputy Commissioner, directing handing over possession of 2 acres, 7 guntas of land in Byrappanahalli, Anekal taluk to the Forest department for the purpose of Bannerghatta National Park. The petition by Hanumappa and Chengappa had contended they were owners of the lands and had challenged the DC’s order.
Compensation plea rejected
The High Court dismissed a petition by a resident of Nayandahalli claiming a compensation of Rs 6 crore from district authorities for demolishing some RCC structures as part of clearance of Raja Kaluve encroachments.
The petition by Naina J Patel had contended the land and RCC buildings in survey no 30 were legally owned by her under a purchase deed registered in her husband’s name. She had impugned the legal validity of Special Deputy Commissioner’s order dated August 3 seeking vacant possession of 200 sq f structure held as encroachment of government Rajakaluve and subsequent demolition of the same. Justice N Kumar rejected the petition.
Bidadi project after payment
The State will take up work on the proposed Knowledge City in Bidadi to the next level after DLF Limited - the developers of the 10,000-acre township — makes the initial payment on the project.
Secretary for the departments of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology M N Vidyashankar said on Monday the project was “on schedule” and around 25 of the Fortune 500 companies had already shown interest in the township, which will come up on a budget of Rs 60,000 crore.
The State is expected to issue the letter of intent on the project to DLF after the initial payment is made.
