The top brass of the City police discussed threadbare measures to usher in transparency in the working environment, especially in the lower echelons of the police.
The meeting was a result of constant pressure from the National Human Rights Commission which has been insisting that a polite and humane police is needed to handle any situation diplomatically.
According to sources, a majority of the officers stressed the need for change.
In the days to come things normally associated with the men in khaki, like illegal detention, abusive language and third degree treatment are sure to fade away.
Maintaining a record
As a beginning, the meeting decided to insist that nothing that happens in a police station should go unnoticed. All petitions, irrespective of the reasons are to be entered in a register and in turn, the police inspector in charge has to check the same and forward it to his superior officer.
The officers were convinced that the rude behaviour of Hoysala patrolling staff has dented the force’s image. The top brass is believed to have even listed out a few police stations from the East, West and Central Zones of the City where the men in uniform’s behaviour and tendencies call for an urgent and thorough makeover.
