Exclusive designer wear

Aakrutee’s -The Boutique, a unique designer store was recently opened in the City. It was inaugurated by Leela Nammalwar, an accomplished musician. ‘Aakrutee’  primarily showcases exquisite women's clothing.

The store’s collection features kurtis, classic lehenga cholis, dramatic evening wear and exotic sarees.

There is a wide range available in the showroom. The clothes have great machine and hand embriodery. The store also specialises in bridal trousseaus.

V Lakshmi Jagmohan, manager, Aakrutee says, "We want people to feel special when they shop at Aakrutees. Hence, we'll do whatever it takes to make sure that happens. Heritage collection

Rehwa presents an exclusive collection of specially woven sarees, fabric and stoles inspired by the heritage Maheshwari designs. Under the patronage of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the delicate Maheshwari weave was refined and developed.

This collection is designed keeping in focus the original colours of the traditional Maheshwaris - mustard, orange, deep aubergine, maroon and emerald green with geometric borders, stripes and  checks. The exhibition is on from October 25 to 27 at ‘Ambara,’ 119 Annaswamy Mudaliar Road, (beside Foto Flash), Ulsoor.

Festive collection

Adding sparkle to your home this Diwali, Yamini’s festive collection covers a wide range of cushion covers, bedspreads, curtains and table linen. The cushion covers come in a vivid array of festive colours. Besides the gold, beige, ivory and olive, a new range of deep jewel tones of crimson, purple, emerald, fuschia and oranges have been introduced.

Luxurious curtains in Maheshwari and Organza with pearlised metallic prints are Rs 1450 onwards, while the the beadspreads starts from Rs 3500, tablemats in different colours are priced at Rs 360 for a set of four.

Festive glasses and beaded votives are available as well. Yamini’s collection also includes hand made paper lanterns adorned with brocade trims and an array of sparklers using gold and silver sequins and beads. Yamini is at 11/2 Haudin Road, Ulsoor Lake.

Designer sarees

A collection of designer sarees and dresses are being exhibited by seven renowned Kolkata boutiques at Safina Plaza, Infantry Road, Main Hall from October 25 to 28. The boutiques are offering their new festival collection of tussar, silk, crepe, georgette and cotton sarees, dresses, tops and duppattas with originally created designs.

A variety of hand embroidery work like Kantha, Gujarati, Parsi, Kashmiri, Zardosi and machine needle work, batik, block print, Madhubani and fabric painting are being introduced in different colours. Prices range from Rs 500 to Rs 8,500.

Jewellery exhibition

A jewellery exhibition by Anita Dhinga from Jaipur will on between from October 26 to 28 at One G, Hatworks Boulevard, 32 Cunningham Road.

New designer store

One Stop Milano, a fashion garment shop wich caters to three brands under one roof, starts function on Thursday (October 25) at EVA Mall on Brigade Road. Actress and model Suman Ranganathan will open the shop at 4 pm.

Customers can choose from the brands like Diego, Nadine and Rainascimento at the shop.

Six yards and counting

Fashion designer duo Seema Bagaria and Archana Kanoria of Iksenya with textile designer Pragatti Toshniwal bring out a special collection of woven sarees at ffolio, Vittal Mallya Road from October 26 to 28. Called ‘Six Yards and Counting’, this is their first ever collaborative collection of woven designer sarees for the festival, incorporating the traditional techniques of Indian weavers, but with a contemporary twist.

 ‘Six Yards and Counting’ sees embellishments such as gota, zardosi, fabric strips and old brocades interwoven into the yarn of the fabric rather than typically embroidered, to create a range of sarees with a rather contemporary look and feel.

The marriage of unconventional weaving techniques with embroidery concepts created purely on handloom, through the weaving and design expertise of the fashion designers and textile expert, has created a collection of one of its kind heirloom sarees. For more details call ffolio at 080 22218143.

Winter collection

Gear up for this winter in a more stylish and sophisticated way. ‘Revolution’, the store for women’s clothing in large and regular sizes has brought out their winter collection. The collection offers women more than 150 styles to choose from per season covering a waist size of 28” to 44”. The clothes are priced between Rs 399 and  Rs 4999. The exclusive Revolution store is at Eva Mall, 60 Brigade Road.

Exquisite collection

Eminent jewellery designer Divvya A Bhasin will present an exquisite range of 101 necklaces and an equal number of earrings with heirloom value for jewellery lovers. The jewellery collection, entitled, ‘The Gilt Trip’ will be launched on October 26 at #14, Vittal Mallaya Road.
