Remember freedom fighters
It is heartening to note that the Bangalore Development Authority is developing five new residential layouts at different parts of the city and allotting over 80,000 sites to eligible applicants. Out of these five layouts, three are proposed to be named after the ex-chief ministers of the state.
The nation is proudly celebrating 150 years of the First War of Independence and 60 years of Independence. As a mark of respect to the freedom fighters and to develop patriotic spirit in people, I request the state government and the BDA to reconsider its decision to name these three layouts in the name of the freedom fighters of the state and the national-level freedom fighters who did not enter the corridors of power after Independence and those who laid down their lives before attaining independence.

Conservancy now a urinal
The conservancy on the 3rd cross Seshadripuram is being used as a urinal. There is also a bakery which has turned into a hotel and all their patrons use this conservancy. The stench is unbearable. One cannot understand how the Corporation gave a licence for all this.
Moreover, many two wheelers are parked in front of the bakery making it impossible for people to move their vehicles. As this is located next to Seshadripuram college, hundreds of students hang about here on their bikes and blow smoke rings at girls. How can cigarettes be sold next to an educational institution. The BBMP and the police have been doing nothing about it. Hope the authorities will look into it.

Roads dug up
The roads at Muneshwaranagar have been dug up for laying Cauvery water pipes. However the pits have not been properly covered and at some places it is uncovered. And when it rains, it becomes virtually impossible to commute. Would the authorities look into this problem?

Double standards
Traffic policemen are a peculiar class in themselves. While they mercilessly tow or pick up two or four wheelers belonging to ordinary people, they do not touch vehicles belonging to police, government or politicians. They also have vague excuses for not doing so.
Also, the BBMP or policemen threaten residents with penalty for erecting shamianas or pandals in front of their houses though temporarily and they allow blockage of roads for many hours or even days for conducting functions attended by local corporators/MLAs.
