DH Music Fest auditions

The auditions for DH Music Fest will take place at St Mark’s Cathedral Hall on October 27 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Individual intimation has been made to all those artiste who have submitted their entries to the festival. The auditions will be co-ordinated by Reji Chandy of the Glorious Choir. Those who have not submitted their entries and would like to appear for the auditions may appear directly and register themselves. Call Tony Doulton on 9845067371 for more details.

Musical drama for kids

Kara Kindergartens is organising a musical drama designed for young children at Crossword Book Store, Residency Road on October 27 from 11 am to 1 pm. The team from Kara will explore the power of reading through communicative, auditory and visual arts and use these tools to help students develop skills as story tellers, story builders and story makers. English play

Join the Dots, a theatre group, presents GPO (God Process Outsourcing, a satire on outsourcing. GPO starts in heaven and ends on earth. The story does not take sides and is not judgmental about outsourcing. The play intends to tickle the funny bone by bringing out the lighter side of Outsourcing. The duration of the play is 60 mins and will be staged at Smriti Nandan, No 15 Nandadeep, Palace road at 8pm on November 3.

Join the Dots is an entrepreneurial Theatre group, based out of Bangalore has been around for more than two years and has staged seven of its productions in different theatrical venues in the city. Exhibition of prints

A unique sale of 19th century zoological prints imported from London starts from October 25 at Select Book Shop.
The collection includes antique prints measure about 14x17 inches, depicting animals and birds in rich water colour along with explanatory text. The prints, engraved in wood and painted by various artists, are well in demand by collectors because of their quaint historic value. Theatre sessions

Theatre Royal Plymouth and Jagriti have formed a unique partnership linking theatre and science. Writers, producers, directors, actors and students have come together from Plymouth, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore (under the Wellcome Foundation sponsored "Theatre science - imagining the future Indian”) to investigate, debate, devise and present material that draws on the powerful medium of theatre and drama to study the impact of science - especially bio-medicine - on humankind in the 21st century.

Each session will be followed by moderated disucssions. Two sessions will be held on October 26 and 27 at Alliance Francaise as follows: October 26: inauguration by Dr V Radhakrishnan, Director, Raman Research Institute and Girish Karnad, Playwright and Jnanpith Awardee (4.30 pm), Play reading: Idiot Wind by Farhad Sorabjee: The impact of corporate PR on the individual (5 pm), Performance: Crab Soup by Arthur Cardozo; Directed by Ramanjit Kaur, The Creative Arts, Kolkata (7.30 pm)

October 27: The Resurrection of Neeru, Mallya Aditi International School, Cosmetic or Reconstructive surgery and for whom? Di Hydrogen Monoxide, Vidya Niketan School, Water don't take it for granted (11 am). Play readings: The Laboratory by Shivani Tibrewala. The ethics of drug trials - India , Bad Blood Blues by Paul Sirett. The ethics of drug trials - Africa (2 pm). Dance competition

Sri Saagara Sangama Yuva Veedike Samsthe is organising a state-level music and dance competition at the Kannada Saahitya Parishat on October 27 and 28. The winners will be awarded  the ‘Gaana mandaraa’ and ‘Naatya mandaara’ awards. For details contact 9845737454/ 9341236504/ 9342868775.

Management session
