Fifteen people were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Kanpur District and Sessions court on Wednesday for killing 11 people in the communal riots that followed the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.
The guilty have been sentenced under Sections 147, 148, 436, 395, 397, 307/149, 302/49 and 201 of the IPC and held responsible for burning 11 Muslims.
Additional District and Sessions Judge S M Hasseb pronounced the judgment after proceedings that stretched for 15-years.
