Deccan Herald - Why call it 'rest'?

Sir,

Why don't our selectors drop senior players like Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar or Rahul Dravid? They only 'rest' them in spite of several failures.

What's wrong in saying that they have been dropped for non-performance? Mr.Vengasarkar was right when he said that some of the seniors have taken their place for granted.
