Satish brace spurs LRDE
DH News Service,Bangalore:

Satish Jr scored a brace in Electronics and Radar Development Establishment’s (LRDE) 4-1 rout of Southern Blues, who missed a penalty, in the BDFA Super Division football league at the Bangalore Football stadium here on Wednesday.

The match was evenly poised until the 18th minute, when the slippery turf proved costly for Blues. Praveen’s cross from the right curled towards goal, and it appeared as if Blues custodian Nikhil C Bernard had the delivery well covered. But Nikhil slipped while going for the ball, and the cross ended at the back of the net.
In first-half injury time, LRDE almost conceded a goal when Rakesh Babu handled the ball inside the area. A Roy, who took the spot kick, hit the ball wide.

Blues paid dearly for having spurned a golden chance to equalise as LRDE went ahead through Satish Jr, seconds into the second half. The goal materialised, courtesy a defence-splitting pass from Praveen. Satish darted across the turf before sending LRDE goalkeeper Anthony L the wrong way to put the ball into the open net. Blues got one back from a free-kick by Ravi Babu that went through the wall in the 56th minute. However, their joy was short-lived as Satish made it 3-1 in the 65th with a half-volley after a cross from the right by Magesh Balu. LRDE completed the rout with Manimaran’s right-footer in injury time that went through the hands of Nikhil.
But the nightmare didn’t ended there for Blues as their forward KP Udaya Kumar was sent off in the second minute of injury time for a rash challenge on Anish Kumar.

Meanwhile, Royals Football Club withdrew from the ongoing Super Divison league without offering any reason, the organisers said. Royals were struggling with just two points from seven matches and were just one spot above bottom team DYSS in the 15-team league. Teams that are yet to play Royals will get the full three points as per the BDFA rules.

Other result: ‘A’ Division: Tilak Memorial: 4 (Christopher 15th, 85th, 90th; Kiran 79th) bt Government Press: 1 (Sethuraman 9th).
Thursday’s matches: ‘A’ Division: RWF vs BHEL (EPD) (1.45 pm); Super Division: HAL vs BEL (3.45 pm).
