Inspired by Daivik Viswanath’s superb spell, Bangalore City gained the upper hand against Tumkur Zone on the opening day of the latest round of matches in the KSCA under-15 inter-zonal cricket tournament here on Wednesday.
The off-spinner, son of legendary batsman GR Viswanath, rocked Tumkur with a four-wicket burst as the visitors were skittled for a paltry 88. He received splendid support from R Prabhakar, L Bhanu Prakash and Suyash, each bagging two wickets apiece.
SK Rajesh played a lone hand for Tumkur with a patient 39, but he was always fighting a solitary battle.
By the close, City had reached 141 for two, and a lead of 53 runs. SS Darshan was batting on 55 and L Adarsh remained not out on 49.
