A total of 88 candidates will fight the upcoming town municipality elections. Of the 100 canidates who had filed nominations, 22 candidates decided to stay off the elections. Thursday was the last day to withdraw nominations.
M H Vishwanath, Jayamma, M K Nagesh, H S Prabhakar, M N Satish (all from ward 3), C Chennappa (ward 4), Bhagya, Sarojamma (both from ward 6), M G Ramu, M G Srikanthaiah (both cadidates from ward 7), Krishna (ward 10), Rizwan Pasha, Fakruddin and Aslam (all from ward 11), Shobha, T Mutturaju (candidate from ward 12), M K Harini (ward 13), D Manjunath, Rajesh (ward 16), Zahib Khan (ward 19), Menaka (ward 21), S T Gopi (ward 23) took back their nominations.
