The survey of the last 10 wards of MCC revealed a few more problems like artificial flood and open drainages, apart from the usual water and road woes. The profiles are summarised here:
KNOW YOUR WARDS
Ward 51 Alape (N)
Places like Alape, Padil, Kannagudde, Saripalla, S B Nagara, Prashantbagh, Meghanagara, Kandevu, Shivapadavu, Nooji, Suryanagara, Shivanagara and Kalai come under this ward.
There are a total of 5,442 voters. Mr K Krishnappa Mendon (Congress) was the previous corporator, who is also contesting now for the 5th time. Mr Mendon said except bad roads, the ward does not have any major problem.
In contrary, BJP candidate P Mohan Kumar said the previous corporator faces corruption allegations from the localites.
Ward 52 Kannur
The ward includes Veeranagara, Kuradpu, ST Colony, Ballur, Kannur, parts of Faisalnagara, Bajal and Padil, having a total of 4,618 voters. Surekha Rai from Congress was the previous corporator from the ward.
BJP’s Sudheer Shetty said his priority will be developing roads and improving water supply. Hamid Hammabba (Cong) said the voters want betterment of power and water supply in their ward. Infrastructure is yet be improved in the interior places.
Ward 53 Bajal
Tha ward comprises Jalligudde, Bajal Padpu, Kattapuni, parts of Faisalnagara and Veeranagara and Nanthoor. It has a total of 5,790 voters.
Abdul Rauf (Congress) was the past corporator. For Congress candidate Sumaiah, the ward is well developed and there are no significant problems.
Another candidate from BJP Renuka P Shetty said the residents complained of bad roads and drainages.
54 Jappinamogaru
Kavya Nagendra Kumar (Congress) was the corporator since 2002. The ward has a total of 5,532 voters. Nagendra Kumar and Sadashiva Shetty are the candidates from Congress and BJP respectively.
Ward 55 Attavara
Vaidyanatha Nagara, Marnamikatta, Babugudda, Mahakalipadpu and parts of Nandigudda come under Attavara ward. There are 5,536 voters. Mohammed Nawaz (Congress) was the previous corporator.
Artificial flood in Jeppu Kudpaditota and drainage problem in Vaidyanatha Nagara are prominent problems.
Though retaining wall has been built beside Netravathi, some areas are still not free from flood menace. BJP candidate Umavathi and Congress candidate K B K Vijayalakshmi said their target will be setting a better hygienic atmosphere .
Ward 56 Mangaladevi
Having a total of 5,753 voters, the ward comprises Mangaladevi, Jeppu, Shivanagara, Morgan’s Gate and Adarshanagar. Namitha D Rao (Cong) was the immediate past corporator.
Congress candidate Abdul Saleem J said his foremost aim will be completing the four-laning works between Kankanady and Mangaladevi. Providing parking space for Mangaladevi temple, concretising the road upto Pandeshwara are his other priorities.

Ward 57 Hoige Bazar
The ward includes area like Emmekere, Marigudi and Mulihithlu, with a of 5,087 voters. BJP’s Muralidhar Bolar was the past corporator. Congress candidate Pravit C Karkera identified artificial floods in the low lying areas of the ward as a major problem. BJP’s Prema is another candidate.
Ward 58 Bolara
Bolara includes Mahakalipadpu, Shettybettu, Arekerebailu, Mulihithlu and Vittalarao Road area. Premananda Shetty (BJP) was the previous corporator.
The ward has 4,310 voters in all. This ward too faces a serious problem where drainage water enters the houses. The Gujjarakere, one of the old lakes of the City needs rejuvenation, while roads need to be reasphalted. M Rajashri from BJP and Rathikala from Congress are the contestants.
Ward 59 Jeppu
Parts of Suterpet, Jeppu Majila, Jeppu Bappal, Jeppu Kutpady come under Jeppu ward, that has a total of 5,883 voters. S Appi from Congress was the previous corporator who contests this time too. Sumitra Shetty contests from BJP. The stream that crosses the ward and underground drainages are not properly maintained, complained the residents.
Ward 60 Bengre
M Farooq was the corporator since 2002 from the Bengre ward that includes Kasaba Bengre, Thota Bengre, Kudroli Bengre and Bokkappatna Bengre.
There are a total of 5,487 voters. Many residents in the ward are yet to receive their title deeds, while they are in dire need for a primary health centre.
Raziya (Cong) and Shakuntala Karkera (BJP) are the main contestants.
