Bharatiya Janatha Party today organised a function to commemorate the death anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal here on Tuesday. The programme was also a platform for the party to campaign for the forthcoming local body polls.
Addressing the gathering, Medical Education and District-in-Charge Minister V S Acharya informed that the State government has approved a plan to provide 24 hours drinking water facilities to all the cities in the State.
Coming down heavily on Congress leaders, Mr Acharya alleged that the Congress men are status quo proponents and that they never encourage any developmental programmes.
Even though there are two former ministers and a present minister from the State in the Central government, they did not do any welfare for the State, he added. He also said that BJP is confident of gaining the majority in the forthcoming polls.
The major surprise of the function was the presence of the Member of Parliament from the district Manorama Madhwaraj and her sharing the dais with District-in-charge Minister V S Acharya which she has never done before.
Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat, District BJP President Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kapu MLA, Lalaji Mendon, District BJP Women Wing President Shyamala Kunder, BJP Leaders Devendra Prabhu, Dinaker Shetty and Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak were also present.
