Indian sport seems to be booming. We have won the Twenty20 World Cup, before that football team won the Nehru Cup and hockey team won the Asian Championship. But the sad thing is that our hockey and football players have not received any cash prizes like cricket players.
BCCI organized a big event for Indian cricket team for their excellent performance in the tournament. Our Hockey and Football associations failed to capitalize the winning spirit and take this to the public.
Sports controlling bodies should adopt new techniques and strategy to attract youngsters to sports by celebrating victories in big way. Every sport is important.
We should learn from a country like Australia which has produced world-class cricketers, swimmers, hockey players, tennis players etc. They have not ignored any sport; they have just promoted each sport by providing quality infrastructure.
They have kept the controlling boards free from dirty politics and never retain a sportsman who has failed to perform up to the mark, no matter how renowned.
We have a central cabinet minister for sports and almost all states have separate ministries of sports and departments, but still we have failed in bringing more medals/victories from international events and failed to produce such kind of talents in our land.
