Call for steps to aid auto sector

Bank M&As likely to be risky: RBI  
The opening of banking sector to foreigners next year is likely to spur consolidation among local banks, which in turn, may lead to risk of concentration, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in its 2006-08 report on currency and finance released here on Thursday.
Inflation falls to 12.34%  
The government can breath a bit easy as inflation fell for the second week in succession to close at 12.34 per cent as on August 23, as a result of a decline in prices of many food items including fruits and vegetables.
