According to a press release, urodynamics is a computerised investigation which measures and analyses various events that occur during bladder filling and emptying. It is used in diagnosing voiding dysfunctions of different types. Voiding dysfunctions are seen common to all age groups and to both sexes. Urodynamics helps in showing where the problem is and provides a more focused treatment approach. The test can be performed by a trained Urology nurse/technician as an outpatient procedure in doctor’s office, and patient doesn’t require anesthesia.
The test involves putting a very small catheter into patient’s bladder. The tube is then hooked to a saline solution source and a Urodynamics equipped computer.
The system’s monitoring device takes measurement about bladder capacity and bladder pressure helping the doctor addressing a particular issue, the release stated.
