Taluk-level Dasara sports
Mulabagal, DHNS: Taluk-level Dasara sports meet will be held at Netaji stadium in the town from Sep 8. While matches in volleyball, football, kabaddi, kho kho and ball badminton will be held for men, women could compete in volleyball, kabaddi, kho kho and ball badminton. Interested are asked to enrol their names with Sep 7 within assistant Youth Services and Sports officer, a release said.

‘Care for welfare  of teachers’
 Srinivaspur, DHNS: The government has to provide long-felt facilities to teachers to help them ensure teaching, opined Union Minister K H Muniyappa.

He was speaking at a Teachers’ Day function here on Friday. He said that providing bus facilities to teachers in rural areas is one of the basic amenities required by teachers. Politicians should not make the teachers scapegoat in their political interest, he said.

Teaching is one of the most honoured and holy professions, as teachers guide the society, he added. He assured that Rs 5 lakhs will be given to construct Gurubhavan in the town.

Legislator G K Venkatashiva Reddy who presided over the he asked teachers to stay away from politics. They should see to that the quality of education should not decline, he added.

The legislator too assured to provide financial assistance of a sum of Rs 5 lakhs towards the  construction of Gurubhavan in the town.
