Shetty, Murari share honours

An Arjun Shetty hat-trick cancelled out an unbeaten century by Dhananjay Murari as Bangalore City XI took the honours on the opening day of their two-day encounter against Combined Mofussil XI in the latest round of matches in the S A Srinivasan Trophy cricket tournament.

At stumps at the RSI grounds on Saturday, City XI had reached 43 without loss in response to Combined Mofussil’s 206 all out.

Shetty picked up the last three wickets of the innings -- K Naveen, Sachin Bhat and Sanjeev Naik -- on his way to figures of five for 47, effectively overshadowing a patient undefeated 101 (208b, 4x4, 3x6) by Murari.
Mofussil XI took control of their encounter against Combined City XI. After MR Darshan (4/31) sent Combined City crashing to 111 all out, Mofussil XI reached 157 for seven at the IAF grounds on the back of half-centuries by D Raghavendra (50, 86b, 7x4) and Devaraj Kotti (63 n.o., 126b, 6x4). Mofussil lead by 46 runs with three first-innings wickets standing.

At the JIRS grounds, President’s XI score 230 against Bangalore Zone XI, who replied with 93 for three at close.
Ganesh Satish made 62 and Nishant Singh Shekwat made an unbeaten 62 for President’s XI, while Abhjeet was Bangalore Zone’s most successful bowled with figures of four for 43. SK Moinuddin lent good support while taking three for 62.

Brief scores: At RSI ground: Combined Mofussil XI: 206 all out in 68.1 overs (Dhananjay Murari 101 n.o., Nirmit Nithyanand 37, Arjun Shetty 5-47 incl a hat-trick; Hardik Munoth 2-78) vs Bangalore City XI: 43/0 in 19 overs.
At IAF ground: Combined City XI: 111 all out in 34 overs (Nishant Hegde 29; Ashok Waddar 2-22, MR Darshan 4-31, Abdul Sinan Khadar 3-24) vs Moffusil XI: 157/7 in 54 overs (D Raghavendra 50, Devaraj Kotti 63 n.o.; Karun Nair 2-44, Anish DV 4-31).

At JIRS ground: President's XI: 230 all out in 58.1 overs (Ganesh Satish 62, Nishant Singh Shekwat 62 n.o., Lingaraju 25; Rajesh Singh 3-25, Abhjeet 4-43, SK Moinuddin 3-62) vs Bangalore Zone XI: 93/3 in 31 overs (KC Avinash 35 n.o.; Abrar Kazi 2-20).
