Skill Commission launched

The state government on Saturday announced the constitution of the Karnataka Skill Commission headed by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa with an agenda to improve the skills of the youth for facilitating creation of 10 lakh jobs.

Yeddyurappa had announced in the budget that as many one lakh youth will be trained and provided with employment within the next one year.

Labour Minister B N Bacche Gowda will be the vice-chairman of the Commission.  Team Lease Staffing Solutions President Manish Sabbarwal will be advisor.

Members
Members include, T V Mohandas Pai of Infosys, Madanlal Hinduja of Gokuldas Exports, Jayashankar of Adarsha Developers, Balji or Orchid Hotels, Dr Ranjan Pai of Manipal Group of Hospitals, B M Kiran of Quisar Technologies, Anand Sankeshwar of VRL Group, Vidya Murukumbi of Renuka Sugar, Belgaum, Biju Kurian of Reliance Industries, Nanda Kishore Malu of Malu Industries, Gulbarga, Dr Vishnukath Chattpalli of Knowledge Park of India Trust. Other members include Excise, Information, Information and Biotechnology, Major and Medium Industries, Small Scale Industries and a host of top officials.

Vision Group
Meanwhile, the State Government has also constituted a vision group under the chairmanship of Kris Gopalakrishna, CEO, Infosys for improvement of industrial sector in the state. Vikram Kirloskar, C K Padmanabha, Madhura Chatrapathi, Umadevi, HVS Krishna, Ravi of Reliance SEZ, former KASSIA president N G Prabhakar, Director of Koppal Kalyani Silks, S S Patil of Gulbarga, Yajnanarayana Bhat, Madan Desai of Hubli, Suresh of Belgaum, Bangalore KASSIA president, Bangalore FKCCI president, Bangalore CII president, Hubli North Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries president and a bunch of higher officers of various departments will be members. Principal Secretary of Industries Department will be convener for the group.

The newly constituted Coastal Development Auth ority will be headed by form er minister B Nagaraj Shetty, stated a release issued by the CM’s secretariat.
