Skilled labour shortage threatens expansion in India  
Only 10 per cent of Indians from 18 to 24 are enrolled in higher education compared with 45 per cent in developed countries, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said recently at an inauguration speech marking the 150th anniversary of the University of Mumbai

The numbers being educated in India are far low. The percentage of the first graders who continue to the fifth grade was 78.5 % in 2003 in India according to ADB's South Asia Economic report.
