In the 2007 Gujarat Assembly polls, the state government actively enrolled persons from various de-notified tribes as voters. After due verification, 3,393 members of various DNTs were registered as voters and most of them exercised their franchise. The Election Commission has since tried to identify other such categories of migrant voters who may not have permanent residential addresses.
