Most of the shops were shut afternoon, but the situation returned to normalcy during evening hours.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Paryaya Shiroor mutt seer Sri Laxmivaratheertha Sripada expressed his satisfaction over the verdict. He said it is a wonderful verdict. Public were expecting similar judgment from the Court as the verdict delivered provided justice to all. No party has been deprived of justice. The idol of Lord Rama has not been shifted. Indeed the verdict is a welcome move, he added.

District Muslim Okkuta Former President Yasin Malpe opined that the public should bow their head before the court verdict. “We had already decided to accept the judgment whatever the outcome is. Hence, the question never arises to go against the verdict. Further decision will be taken by All India Personal Law Board at national-level. We respect Indian Constitution and accordingly the court verdict,” he added.

Renowned Kannada writer Vaidehi said one could not have expected better judgment than this. “This is a good verdict that was cautiously given in order to safeguard the emotional interests of both the communities. I really welcome the verdict. Maximum justice has been bestowed to all involved,” she opined.

Jamaete-Islam-Hind leader Akbar Ali informed that the Court verdict should be respected by maintaining peace across the country. “We cannot express our displeasure towards the court verdict. The problem should be solved through Court. However, the aggrieved party can go for higher appeal in Supreme Court. We cannot say that we are happy with the verdict,” he added.

SP Pravin Pawar informed that the situation is absolutely normal. No untoward incidents have been reported anywhere in the district. In fact, it happened only by the cooperation and efforts of religious and political leaders, he added.
